Chicago Adventures

We wanted to take the kids to the Shedd Aquarium, and Field Museum before we headed to Wisconsin with the Bollows and Wardlows for some indoor water park fun! Kathy and her kiddos met us for our Chicago adventures. It was sooo nice seeing her and the littles!

Chicago

It was comforting being able to be with family for the few days we were there. We were able to tell stories, laugh, cry, and comfort each other. The first day we were there, I had asked Poppie if Sydney could borrow one of Mom's earrings for the memorial. He said yes and told me to go into their bedroom to find a small pair of earrings. I went into their bedroom, and started looking through the jewelry box, when an angel music box started to randomly twirl and chime. I ran out of the room crying, to Poppie, who then went into the room as well. When he entered the room, the angel started to twirl and chime again. Nonnie was letting us know that she was there with us!

Sandra Irene Evans 10/8/44 - 12/19/16

On the morning that we were set to fly to Chicago, our beloved Nonnie passed away. Sadly we missed her by a few hours. There are no words to express the sadness that we all feel as our light in the lighthouse has gone out. The beacon that shows us where home is, is no longer there, instead we will have to rely on our memories to bring us safely to shore now. I only wish our girls had gotten to know her better. To see what a special person she was. There's not a single soul that didn't love her when they met her. Loving, caring, thoughtful, selfless and the most amazing mother and grandmother to her family. The world will never be the same without you. We will miss you helping us carve pumpkins on Halloween. Teasing Chris to join in as he whined about the seeds being gross. Your AMAZING witch laugh, and wearing the witch hat to pass out Halloween candy. Making your pasta for Addison, who LOVES it!

Baking cookies with Sydney, that she snuck until they were all gone.

The way you loved to call and chat, and hated to ever have to say goodbye. When Addison was born, you were my life saver, who lived with me for two weeks. You saw me at my worst, helped me when I needed it the most, and we cried together so hard when you had to leave.

I hope that we can be half the mother and grandmother that you were. I hope that we can teach our girls to see the world and people they way you saw them all. I'm so thankful that my girls have a little bit of you in them, and hope that you watch over them. We love you so much, and miss you every single day.

Christmas

Since we are heading to Chicago for Christmas, we celebrated a little bit early this year. Our elf was kind enough to tell Santa that we needed to leave town early, so he made a special trip to our house for the girls before his big day.

Dr. Evans is now seeing patients!
